Last month, Epic Games held the live Fortnite Champion Series with a $1 million prize pool in Raleigh, North Carolina. San Francisco-based Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney recently stated that VR versions of the popular battle royale game Fortnite are not in the works at this time (VR).
Sweeney has stated on The Verge that bringing Fortnite to virtual reality is not a good idea.
According to him, “the thing that we do in Fortnite every day as gamers is run through an environment rapidly,” and this is the kind of experience that involves intense motion and doesn’t work as well in VR. While Meta’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg might disagree that a game like Fortnite doesn’t belong in VR, Sweeney said Epic would be happy to collaborate with the company on future metaverse projects.
